Jharsuguda: Four persons of a family had a narrow escape after the car they were travelling in suddenly caught fire at Sahapada Chhak under Badmal police limits in this district Saturday.
Recently, an industrialist of the district was charred to death at Belpahar in a similar fashion. However, all the travellers in Saturday’s incident are safe, Badmal IIC PC Tripathy said.
According to reports, Salil Kumar Patel, Sushil Kumar Patel, Jitendriya Patel and Krushnapyari Patel of BTM Ektali areas of the town were on their way in a car (Tata Zest bearing registration no OD 23 E 5005) to Sambalpur.
However, Salil spotted smoke emission from the car’s bonnet when they were just five km from their home.
He got down from the car and opened the bonnet to find that the engine was burning. Salil asked others to get out of the car and move away. The vehicle was reduced to ashes within minutes.
Salil filed a complaint with Badmal police station over the issue. PNN
