Jeypore: The civic body reprimanded a private hospital here for allegedly dumping waste into the drain along the bypass road that connects Malkangiri National Highway and Jagannath Sagar Jaynagar road.
The executive officer of the municipality Sanjay Acharya and health officer Dr Arun Padhi called the hospital officials and warned them to refrain from dumping waste into the drain.
During desilting work, it was found that the hospital had thrown bandage clothes, saline bottles, etc into the drain, reports said.
The desilting work of Chikiti drain, locally known as bada nala (big drain), has been going on for the last one week.
During the cleaning work Wednesday, it was found that the drain was full of medical waste.
Meanwhile some locals alleged that the hospital, despite having its own solid waste treatment plant, was dumping the waste into the drain.
