Naveen set to launch AYUSH Mission June 21

Bhubaneswar, June 12: The state government is all set to roll out the ambitious National Ayush Mission (NAM) on International Yoga Day – June 21. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is expected to launch the mission at Kalinga Stadium here.
Mission Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) was officially announced by Union government in October last year following which the states and union territories have been asked to set procedures to launch the mission.
“A governing and executive body for the mission has already been formed and after formation of the NAM society the mission has now become a reality in the state. All official procedures have been put in place and now it is time for the launching of the ambitious mission,” said a senior official at Ayush directorate here. The objective of the NAM is to integrate the traditional medicine systems and related aspects into the mainstream healthcare system. The goal is to reduce the burden on allopathic treatment and attract people to opt for Indian medicine system.
“The Union government has already intimated the state to celebrate International Yoga Day in grandeur for which we have selected the day for official launch of the mission. We have met the CM and discussed about the inauguration of the NAM,” said the official. The Ayush directorate in collaboration with the health and family welfare department is planning to celebrate the International Yoga Day at Soochna Bhawan.
