Talcher: Nine cattle including seven cows and two calves were electrocuted at Kanakili village under Talcher block in Angul district Monday morning.
Sources said an electric wire snapped Sunday night due to thunderstorm and rain. The next day morning, as the cattle were let out for grazing, they came in contact with the live wire, leading to their death. The deceased cattle belonged to Devraj Pradhan, Sukuru Pradhan, Rajkishore Nath, Rathi Pradhan and Kumar Pradhan.
Villagers blamed the “irresponsible” attitude of the electricity department officials for the death of these animals, and demanded compensation.
