New Delhi: Despite growth of new test tube baby clinics in the state, there has been hardly any progress in their registration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare which keeps a record of such clinics in the country.
Two years ago, the state had two Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) clinics which were used to offer In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) commonly known as test tube baby technique, Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) and other assistive methods used to produce offspring in cases of infertility.
Two years down the line, nothing seemed to have changed on the ground. As per the ART recently revised registry of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Orissa still has two registered ART clinics which can offer test tube treatment. As per ICMR registry, Swarnashanti Fertility Clinic at Chandrashekarpur and Centre for Human Reproduction at Kalinga Nagar in the city are the only two registered ART clinics in Orissa.
