Bhubaneswar:The state government clarified Thursday that it has no plans yet to revise bus fare.“When the diesel price had shot up last month, bus associations had demanded a hike in bus fare. However, the government had not done that. The slash in diesel price by Rs 1.30 now automatically reverses the earlier rounds of price hikes,” said transport minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi. “The technical committee of the transport department would review it following which the government will take a final call,” he said.Petrol price was slashed by 80 paise per litre and diesel by `1.30 a litre Wednesday on global cues, the
second reduction in rates this month. Earlier, April 2, the rates were cut by 49 paise a
litre for petrol and Rs 1.21 for diesel. The second reduction in rates reverses two rounds of price hikes in February and March – first by Rs 0.82 a litre in petrol and Rs 0.61 per litre in
diesel February 16, and by Rs 3.18 per litre in petrol and Rs 3.09 a litre in diesel March 1.PNN
