Cuttack: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved a police modernisation plan of Rs 31.75 for the state for 2017-18 fiscal.
The high powered committee of the MHA Tuesday approved the action plan sent by the state Home department. The Rs 31.75-crore action plan is being funded by both Union and state governments on 60:40 basis.
The MHA has also approved a supplementary action plan of 6.35 crore, sources said.
Sources said the action plan was prepared to intensify anti-Maoist operations and anti-criminal operations in the state. Besides, the action plan will help improve intelligence system, criminal investigation system, purchase of modern gadgets and setting up of special units.
“Our focus is to strengthen force mobility, development of communication, training, development of infrastructure and purchase of modern gadgets for crime records bureau,” said DGP KB Singh.
