NUA-O Scholarship: Here’s how Odisha students can apply

With Odisha Cabinet clearing the implementation of NUA-O Scholarship Scheme, nearly six lakh students studying in Under-graduate (UG) and Post-graduate (PG) courses in state universities and colleges are expected to benefit.

A notification issued by the state government informed that the Higher Education Department has invited online applications for ‘NUA-O Scholarship’ for academic year 2023-2024. Furthermore, the institutes have been directed to validate/ process the scholarship applications by February 22, 2024.

How to apply for NUA-O Scholarship:

Step 1: Students, satisfying all the eligibility criteria, need to download an annexure by visiting this link

Step 2: If the student is above 18 years old, he/ she needs to fill up Annexure A. Else, Annexure B needs to be filled by the student’s guardian as per the mandate.

Step 3: Once filled up, the application needs to be submitted to the respective college or university.

Step4: After submission, the authority will validate/ process the scholarship application by February 22, 2024

Students are advised to go to their college or university website to get specific details pertaining to their institute. They can also contact them to get information about the next course of action. Besides, they can visit https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in/ to get updated with new information about the scholarship.

It can be mentioned here that, annexure are declarations/ undertaking forms about the guardian neither holding any permanent job in government/ PSU/ Societies/ Corporation/ agencies nor drawing salary from any government-aided educational institutes.

Furthermore, the declaration forms also state that the students should not be availing of any other student scholarships (except ‘Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Bhasabruti’).

According to the official website, male students belonging to EBC, OBC/ SEBC and General categories will receive a scholarship amount of Rs 9,000 annually while female students belonging to these categories will get Rs 10,000 every year till the completion of their respective courses. Male students belonging to SC/ST categories will get Rs 10,000, while female students of the categories will receive Rs 11,000 annually.

Earlier, this month Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha Kartik Pandian announced the scholarship during the ‘Nua-O’ event in Jajpur district.
