BJP’s Dholakia secures 1,23,869 votes after 29 rounds of counting

After 29 rounds of counting, Jay Dholakia secured 1,23,869 votes (58.27 per cent), while Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi was in second spot with 40,121 votes (18.87 per cent). BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria followed with 38,408 votes (18.07 per cent).

 


Dholakia stays firmly ahead after 26 rounds of counting

After 26 rounds of counting, BJP’s Jay Dholakia secured 1,22,898 votes, while Snehangini Chhuria of the BJD managed 38,011 votes. Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi was in third spot with 39,987 votes.

 


Dholakia crosses 1 lakh votes after 21 rounds, maintains strong lead
After 21 rounds of counting, Jay Dholakia secured 1,03,083 votes, while Snehangini Chhuria of the BJD managed 32,052 votes. Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi was in third spot with 33,858 votes

Dholakia crosses 78,000 votes, tight fight for second place 
After 16 rounds of counting, Dholakia secured 78,507 votes, while his nearest rival, Snehangini Chhuria of the BJD, managed 24,635 votes. Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi was in third spot with 24,251 votes. The difference between the BJD and the Congress candidates was only 384 votes.

Jay Dholakia nears sweeping win in Nuapada bypoll

BJP candidate Jay Dholakia appears headed for a decisive victory, widening his lead steadily through each round. After 15 rounds of counting, Dholakia has secured 73,745 votes. He is currently ahead of his closest rival, BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria, by 50,656 votes. Chhuria has received 23,089 votes so far, while Congress candidate Majhi has polled 22,618 votes.

Speaking to reporters, Dholakia expressed confidence in a big win. “I said earlier, and I repeat — the BJP will win by a margin of more than 50,000 votes. The BJP is clearly ahead. This is the victory of the double-engine government and the people of Nuapada,” he said.

 


Jay Dholakia leads by over 40,000 votes after 12 rounds

After 12 rounds, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia is leading by 40,313 votes.

Dholakia has secured 59,366 votes, while BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria is in second place with 19,053 votes. Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi has received 17,437 votes.

 


Jay Dholakia leads by 33,232 votes after 10 rounds of counting

After 10 rounds, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia has extended his lead to 33,232 votes.

Dholakia has so far secured 50,333 votes, while BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria is in second place with 17,101 votes. Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi has received 13,751 votes.


 

After Round 7, Jay Dholakia extends lead by over 25,000 votes

Vote counting for the Nuapada Assembly bypoll is underway, with BJP candidate Jay Dholakia moving steadily toward a decisive victory. His early lead has continued to widen with each round. By the end of the seventh round, Dholakia was ahead by 25,346 votes over his nearest rival.

Jay Dholakia (BJP): 36,088 votes — Leading

Snehangini Chhuria (BJD): 10,742 votes — Second

Ghasiram Majhi (Congress): 9,474 votes — Third

Jay Dholakia leads after 5th round; Snehangini trails

Vote counting for the Nuapada by-election has been underway since 8 a.m. By the fifth round, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia was leading by 18,398 votes. By this round, Dholakia had secured 25,195 votes, while Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi stood second with 6,797 votes. BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria was in third place with 6,538 votes.


Vote counting begins

The counting of votes for the Nuapada assembly bypoll in Odisha began at 8 am Friday under a three-tier security arrangement, an official said.

District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Nuapada Collector Madhusudan Dash said the counting of postal ballots was underway.

The counting of votes in EVMs will start from 8.30 am at 14 tables.

There will be 26 rounds of vote counting, he said.

The bypoll was necessitated by the demise of BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia on September 8.

The Nuapada by-election has achieved an outstanding voter turnout of 83.45 per cent, which was the highest among the eight bypolls held in India November 11.
