Balasore/Bhograi: Hours after the obscene video of a girl and her boyfriend went viral, women of a Self Help Group (SHG) staged protests near the Talsari marine police station in Bhograi area of Balasore Saturday. The protesting women demanded prompt action against the accused.
They alleged that the video was filmed using a cell phone somewhere in the Talasari beach area near Subarnapur village in Bhograi block.
According to reports, a Plus-III student and his girl friend studying in Plus-II had visited the beach August 1. Three miscreants accosted and followed them. Finally the three forced them to go to a solitary place.
Then, the miscreants allegedly molested the girl and forced them to have physical relations. But the girl refused to do so. The miscreants stripped her naked and forced her boy friend to have physical relations with her.
The miscreants filmed the act and demanded Rs 20,000 from the couple. They threatened to make the video viral if the couple does not pay the money.
Later, the students managed to arrange Rs 15,000 and set themselves free from their clutches.
The incident has triggered public outrage in the area. Soon after the incident came out, the Mahamaya Self Help Group filed a written complaint at the Marine Police Station and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
“We have seen the footage and can identify the culprit. Efforts are on to nab them,” said a police official.
The women fumed, “The incident is extremely disrespectful to women. A meeting was held in the village and it was decided that if no step was taken in this direction, we will stage a road blockade.”
Jaleswar SDPO Sudarshan Das said that a complaint was received from the SHG members. The boy filed a complaint at the police station Saturday.
