Cuttack, Sept 1: Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC) has been mulling publication of results of Orissa Civil Services (OCS) main examinations for 2011 batch by October 2015. The examinations and results process was inordinately delayed due to various court cases.
OPSC chairman Satyakam Mishra said here recently the public service commission has been trying to publish results of the OCS-2011 mains as early as possible. The answer-sheets are being evaluated by a group of experts for the past one month. Results are expected to be published by October.
OPSC had issued notification for recruitment of candidates for posts in Orissa Administrative Service (OAS), Orissa Police Service (OPS), Orissa Revenue Service (ORS), Orissa Cooperative Service (OCS) and Orissa Tax and Audit Service (OTAS) through a combined competitive test, popularly known as OCS examination.
The preliminary examinations of OCS-2011 were conducted in January 2014. Candidates, who cleared the preliminary examinations, were asked to sit the main examinations in September 2014, sources said.
However, the public service commission could not evaluate the answer-sheets of OCS-2011 main examinations as several petitions were filed in the Orissa Administrative Tribunal (OAT) and Orissa High Court (HC) challenging the merit list of the prelim examination. The HC had pronounced an interim stay on the evaluation of answers of the main examinations and referred the issue to a two-member division bench of the OAT, sources added.
A division bench of the OAT, in its June 2015 order, had directed the OPSC to evaluate the OCS-2011 main examination papers and publish the results within two months. However, the public service commission is yet to complete the evaluation or announce the results, according to sources.
Meanwhile, the state government has decided to conduct the OCS exam annually as per the directions of the Orissa High Court. The state government has amended the OCS Rules-1991 to conduct the examinations annually.
Accordingly, the OPSC has notified the OCS examinations-2015 June 25 and prelims in November first week.
“The preliminary examinations of OCS-2015 are scheduled to be held in the first week of November and the main examinations in January 2016. Results of the main examinations are expected by March 2016,” Mishra said.
