Kendrapara: An Odia labourer, working in Dubai, was found hanging in his room Saturday, the UAE police informed Kendrapara police.
The deceased was identified as Shreebindu Maity (26), son of Shyamapada Maity of Bhateni village near Jambu in this district.
Shreebindu was working in Dubai for the last two years and had come home recently for vacation.
Police, quoting the family sources, said the deceased had returned to Dubai 10 days ago to resume work. Family members alleged foul play in Shreebindu’s death and suspected it to be a handiwork of some miscreants.
They lodged a complaint with the police alleging murder.
“We were told that his body was found hanging from the ceiling of his house. We suspect someone had killed our son and tried to show it as suicide. He had no reason to end his life. A probe into the incident must be conducted and action should be taken against the miscreants,” said a family member.
The matter came to the fore after Dubai police informed Kendrapara police about the death of Shreebindu.
Sources said the body would be sent back to Kendrapara after post-mortem.
