Berhampur: An Odia youth was arrested from Kerala for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile in the name of a minor girl of Berhampur and uploading obscene photos and videos on the page.
He has been identified as Kartikeswar Behera of Jatni in Khurda district. According to sources, Behera had befriended the victim on Facebook. The duo started chatting and later shared their pictures. However, some days later, the girl, suspecting evil intentions of the youth, stopped replying to his messages.
In an act of revenge, Behera then created a fake Facebook account in the name of the girl and uploaded objectionable photos and videos on the page.
As the matter came to fore, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint with cyber police station in Berhampur. During probe, the local police found out that Behera was in Perubhattam area in Kerala.
Being assisted by the Kerala police, a team of Berhampur police reached Kerala and made the arrest.
The accused was produced in a court in Kerala and will be brought to Berhampur August 13, police said.
