Sinapali (Nuapada): The land dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh has intensified again after a long time in the border areas of Sinapali block in Nuapada district.
A team of the Sinapali tehsil administration led by tehsildar Nilamber Suna had put up signage in the border areas in Odia February 28. This act of the tehsil administration made the farmers of this area happy.
But the Chhattisgarh administration removed the signage Saturday. As a result, tension prevailed in the area, and the land dispute between the two states has surfaced once again.
Now, there is tension between farmers of both the states. If the matter is not solved it could lead to unhealthy consequences, the local farmers warned.
Around 12 farmers of New Malpada village in Sinapali block had taken possession of government lands many years ago and were cultivating them. Later these lands were distributed by the Chhattisgarh government amongst its own Burjabahal village farmers.
The farmers of New Malpada complained about this to the Sinapali tehsildar. After this, administration officers probed the matter and February 25, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Southern Division, T. Apanga Rao, the Collector of Nuapada, Poma Tudu, and senior revenue officials visited the spot.
In order to put forth Odisha’s claim, the administration placed Odia signage on these lands in the border areas February 28. Now, the Chhattisgarh Government has removed them.
Reacting to this, tehsildar Nilamber Suna said, “A case will be filed at the Sinapali police station, and discussions will be held between top officials to resolve the issue.”
