Odisha COVID-19 tally rises to 828 with 91 new cases; 4 dead

Bhubaneswar: As many as 91 persons tested positive for COVID-19 Sunday bringing the total number of infections so far in Odisha to 828, official data suggested. The state has so far recorded four deaths to the contagion.

According to Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department of the state government, two deaths were reported from Ganjam and two from Khurda district.

Out of the 91 patients that tested positive, 28 are from Bhadrak, 17 are from Balasore, 15 from Ganjam, 12 from Cuttack,  seven from Puri, four from Keonjhar, three from Khurdha, two from Bolangir, one each from Kendrapara, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.

Sambalpur recorded its first COVID-19 case Sunday.

28 cases in Bhadrak
( All in quarantine centres. 17 Surat, 8 WB, 2 Maharastra & 1 Hyderabad returnees)

17 cases in Balasore
(16 in quarantine centres. 2 Surat, 3 WB, 10 Hyderabad & 1 Maharastra returnees and one local contact)

The state Health and Family Welfare department, meanwhile, tweeted that 30 patients who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered.

“Another 30 patients have recovered from #COVID19 yesterday and are being discharged. 28 are from Ganjam. 1 each from Balasore and Cuttack. The number of recovered cases of #Odisha now stands at 196,” tweeted Health and Family Welfare Department.

According to state government data as of Sunday morning, 828 people have so far been tested positive for COVID-19 in the state out of which 628 cases are active, 196 have recovered and four persons have died.

The state government further added that record number of COVID-19 samples were tested Saturday which includes 1590 at RMRC, 301 at AIIMS,  1309 at SCB, 122 at MKCG, 56 at VIMSAR, 1425 at ILS,  200 at IGH and 80 at Apollo.

While total samples tested Saturday stood at 5,083, cumulative samples tested so far stood at 91,223.
