The projects, involving 46 companies, were unveiled at a groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony at the Kalinganagar industrial belt in Jajpur district in the presence of Industries Minister Sampad Chandra and industry representatives.
The projects span 14 districts — Anugola, Baragada, Baleshwar, Boudh, Kataka, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendujhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Sambalpur and Sundaragada.
The projects cover a diverse range of sectors, including steel and metals, chemicals, renewable energy, food processing, biofuels, textiles and apparel, electronics and IT services, logistics and warehousing, tourism and hospitality, industrial gases, infrastructure, rubber and plastics, shipbuilding and ship repair, power storage, refractories, circular economy and healthcare.
“This transformative step will create over 42,000 new employment opportunities in the state while establishing Odisha as a leading manufacturing hub of the country and the world. Our journey of progress towards building a self-reliant, developed, and prosperous Odisha will continue unabated,” CM Majhi said.
He said the investments were expected to strengthen the state’s manufacturing ecosystem, promote value addition and create opportunities for local suppliers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs.
The projects are also expected to generate employment for skilled and semi-skilled workers, particularly young people, while supporting local livelihoods, he said.
Taking a swipe at the previous BJD government, Majhi said his government had so far launched 116 projects and inaugurated 35, taking the cumulative number to 151.
These projects represent a combined investment of Rs 3,11,722.46 crore and have an estimated employment potential of 2,40,697, the statement said.
