Bhubaneswar: In line with the vision of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan to strengthen Odisha’s road infrastructure, the state government has intensified efforts to build a robust road network connecting all major regions of the state, aimed at improving mobility and accelerating overall development.
Chairing a review meeting of four key road projects Monday, Principal Secretary of the Works department Sanjay Kumar Singh said focused measures are being taken to strengthen road infrastructure across Odisha.
The meeting reviewed the construction and widening of several important road projects, with special emphasis on the proposed 111-kilometre Capital Region Ring Road around Bhubaneswar.
Singh directed departmental officers and engineers to expedite project execution, including the speedy completion of land acquisition and obtaining necessary forest and environmental clearances.
Discussions were also held on easing traffic congestion in Cuttack city and developing a direct road link from Bhubaneswar to Jagatsinghpur and Paradip.
Officials were instructed to prepare the alignment plan and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a new Greenfield road from near Dhakulei Peetha to Kandarpur.
Once completed, the new road will allow vehicles travelling from Bhubaneswar to Jagatsinghpur and Paradip to bypass Cuttack city, significantly reducing travel distance and time.
The meeting further reviewed land acquisition and widening work for the 206-kilometre Koraput–Mohana road.
Progress on the upgradation and widening of the Khurda–Nayagarh road was also assessed, with instructions to ensure execution strictly as per the approved DPR.
Meanwhile, in a separate meeting chaired by the Department’s Principal Secretary, discussions were held on the effective implementation of the 15-point directives issued by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to accelerate the state’s overall development.
