Talacher: Five workers were seriously injured after an explosion inside Bunker-B at the NTPC power plant in Kaniha in Odisha’s Anugola district late Friday night.
All five injured workers were taken to the NTPC hospital in Talacher. Three of them were treated at the hospital and their condition was reported to be stable, while two others were shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
The cause of the explosion has not been ascertained. A senior technical team is investigating the incident, NTPC Deputy Manager Kaushal Upadhyay said.
Senior NTPC and police officials visited the plant and hospitals.
Workers have alleged that inadequate maintenance and negligence by departmental officials may have contributed to the incident. The allegations are being examined as part of the investigation.
