Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 649 new Covid-19 cases, of which 103 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,16,362. Active caseload in the state now stands at 6,957.
Odisha also reported six (06) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,098 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported eight (08) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.
Balasore and Puri districts reported the highest deaths (two each), followed by Cuttack and Khurda districts (one each).
Out of the 649 new infections, 381 were reported from quarantine centres while 268 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 630 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 235 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 84 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore and Jagatsinghpur (37 each), Jajpur and Mayurbhanj (30 each), Sundargarh (25), Kendrapara (24), Puri (17), Angul, Keonjhar and Sambalpur (nine each), Bhadrak, Jharsuguda and Nayagarh (six each), Bolangir, Ganjam and Koraput (five each), Rayagada (three), Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nuapada (two each) and Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur (one each).
The State Pool reported 52 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,88,54,295 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 706.
