Odisha registers 9,889 new COVID-19 cases; Khurda highest with 1,331

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 9,889 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 4,89,641. Active caseload in the state stands at 77,257. Out of the 9,889 new infections, 5,611 were reported from quarantine centres while 4,278 persons contracted the virus locally.

Khurda district has registered the highest number of new cases with 1,331 persons testing positive for the disease, followed by Sundargarh with 1,137 new infections.

A total of 1,03,19,104 swab samples have been cumulatively tested in the state so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 6,164.

Other districts that have reported new COVID-19 cases are: Cuttack (790), Bargarh (483), Sambalpur (470), Angul (443), Puri (436), Kalahandi and Nabarangpur (414 each), Jharsuguda (386), Nuapada (335), Bolangir (326), Ganjam (310), Jajpur (282), Mayurbhanj (243), Nayagarh (223), Keonjhar (195), Subarnapur (158), Jagatsinghpur (156), Balasore (151), Kendrapara (133), Boudh and Rayagada (129 each), Gajapati (117), Koraput (94), Dhenkanal (90), Malkangiri (86), Deogarh (75), Bhadrak and Kandhamal (52 each).

The State Pool reported 249 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside the state and have tested positive.
