Sonepur: Sahajlatha Primary School in Khandahata panchayat under Biramaharajapur block of Odisha’s Subarnapur district is reportedly functioning with only one teacher for six classes.

Guardians said the school earlier had two teachers, but one was transferred to Bolangir district a few months ago. Since then, the lone teacher has been unable to give adequate attention to all students from Class I to V, including Bal Vatika.

They said the teacher has also been unwell, further affecting academic activities. As a result, several parents have begun withdrawing their children and enrolling them in other schools.

Concerned over a possible drop in student strength, the guardians approached Block Education Officer Ajay Luha of Biramaharajapur, seeking immediate appointment of additional teachers.

Luha said steps would be taken to address the issue as soon as possible.
