Phulbani: Seven students of Salaguda Sevashram School in Phiringia block of Odisha’s Kandhamal district were hospitalised after classmates allegedly applied adhesive to their eyes while they were asleep in the hostel Thursday night, according to a source.
The incident came to light Friday morning when eight children woke up could not open their eyes. Hostel staff and fellow students rushed them to a hospital, the source added.
The victims were first admitted to Gochhapada Medical Centre. One student reportedly recovered, but as the condition of the other seven was considered serious, they were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani for specialised care.

Officials said the students are under close medical supervision. Kandhamal District Welfare Officer visited the hospital to review the situation and ensure proper care.
