Tihidi: A 45-year-old woman died after she fell off a motorcycle at Kanpada Chhaka on Mangarajpur-Ishwarpur road under this block in Bhadrak district.
The deceased was identified as Jyotshnarani Bhanja of Palatpur village under Nandapur panchayat in the district.
The incident occurred when pillion rider Jyotshnarani was on her way to Kuanrchatar village under Gobindapur panchayat to attend the funeral of her uncle on a motorcycle Friday. She fell from the two-wheeler as the rider applied a sudden brake to prevent the two-wheeler from hitting an ox on the road.
After suffering injuries to her head, Jyotshnarani was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, the doctor declared her dead.
Police registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem. The deceased Jyotshnarani was the elder sister of Manas Ranjan Nayak, a journalist from Tihidi.
