Cuttack: Orissa Human Rights Commission (OHRC) Thursday, hearing the alleged non availability of old age and widow pension to the beneficiaries in Pipli and Delang blocks, directed Puri district collector to submit a status report within four weeks.
Advocate Nishikanta Mishra had filed a petition with the commission claiming as many as 86 beneficiaries of Pipli and Delang blocks have been deprived of old age and widow pensions.
The petitioner claimed that 22 elderly and 3 widow beneficiaries in Lakhminarayanpur and 15 old age pension beneficiaries in Kanti panchayat could not avail of the benefits.
Similarly 10 old age pension beneficiaries in Mudhinpur and Uttarbad villages are also waiting for the money while 32 in Teishpur panchayat have not got the same. In Teishpur four widow, too, have not received pension.
Mishra’s petition claimed that every citizen have the right to avail benefits of government schemes. But due to the laxity of district administration many elderly and helpless beneficiaries fail to avail them which violate their human rights.
