Cuttack: A day after over one quintal of spurious paneer was seized from a bus during a raid here, Chauliaganj police have arrested a trader for dealing in synthetic paneer.
Acting on a tip-off, the police along with a team of food inspecting officials of Cuttack Municipal Corporation had Wednesday conducted a raid in a particular bus coming from Kolkata to Cuttack city. Following the raid, over one quintal of spurious paneer was found and was subsequently seized.
In this connection, the police had detained some traders. After interrogation, one of them was arrested. He was arrested under sections 272, 273, 420 and 34 of IPC and relevant sections of Food Safety and Standard Act 2006.
In the past, several units manufacturing adulterated oil, ghee, pan masala, spices and mobile phones were busted in Cuttack.
The police and CMC officials for the first time seized fake paneer, though not prepared in the city.
