Bolangir: A person was killed while six others sustained critical injuries after the passenger bus ferrying them overturned near Randha area on the Bolangir-Sonepur road Friday morning.
The deceased, the driver of the bus has been identified as, Arun Patra, of Dumurabahal village. The injured passengers were rescued by locals and rushed to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir.
The incident occurred when the bus carrying around 30 passengers was en route to Bolangir from Bhubaneswar. The vehicle overturned after the driver lost control over the wheels at around 4:00am.
The driver of the bus died on the spot after getting trapped under the vehicle. Police have seized the vehicle and launched a probe to ascertain the cause of the accident. The body of the driver has been sent for post-mortem.
