G Udayagiri: To get rid of garbage-induced pollution and ensure clean environment, preparation of organic fertilisers from city waste has started in G Udayagiri NAC of Ganjam district.
On the other hand, demand for vegetables, rice, cereal and other crops grown in organic way has been soaring across the country as the crops are beneficial for health.
Organic fertilisers prepared from the garbage treatment will cater to the needs of farmers keen to take organic farming.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had inaugurated a waste management and treatment plant at Hatibali through video conferencing. The plant segregates plastic waste from vegetable and organic waste.
Organic fertiliser is sold for Rs20 a packet containing 5 kg. Farmers will use organic fertilisers instead of chemical fertilisers, whose overuse allegedly reduces the fertility of the land.
On the other hand, organic fertilisers boost land fertility, giving much production of crops. Local citizens laid stress on awareness for need of organic fertilisers among local farmers.
