Malkangiri: Both the kidneys of Irma Madkami, a youth of Titanga village under Korukonda block in this district, were found intact, a medical examination report Tuesday revealed.
Earlier, it was alleged that one of Irma’s kidneys had been removed when he went to work for a bore well drilling company in Andhra Pradesh. He had gone to AP three years back but became seriously ill after a mishap.
Following this, the youth was operated upon there without the knowledge of his family. Later, his health condition worsened and the doctors, who examined him, reportedly told his family that a kidney had been missing from his body. Irma’s father recently met Malkangiri collector D Prashant Kumar Reddy and apprised him of the matter. The news was also highlighted by a section of media over last few days.
Following this, the collector asked health officials to conduct a medical examination on Irma to know the truth. “An ultrasound test has confirmed that both the kidneys of the youth are in place,” additional district medical officer Dr Shashibhusan Mohapatra said.
Irma’s younger brother Kasa Madkami, who had gone to AP with him, is still missing. On the issue, district labour officer Laxman Behera said measures are being taken to trace the youth. PNN
