Bhubaneswar: Orissa have so far bagged five medals, comprising two silver and four bronze till the completion of the second day of the Junior National Karate Championships at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, Thursday. Loma Swain won a silver medal Thursday while Debasmita Dalabehera, Adyasha Samantray and Tejaswini won bronze medals. On the first day, Satyam Mohanty had won a silver in the boys’ fight event while Anushka Priyadarshini bagged a bronze in girls’ fight.
Orissa qualify
Orissa qualified for the main draw of the 72nd edition of the Santosh trophy after playing a goalless draw Thursday against Bihar in the East Zone qualifying round at Begusarai. Orissa topped the group with four points from two games.
Top teams win
Jharkhand, Manipur and Delhi registered comprehensive victories against their respective opponents in the 23rd Senior Women’s National football championship at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Thursday. Jharkhand thrashed Arunachal Pradesh 5-1, Manipur hammered Maharashtra 6-1 and Delhi beat Assam 2-0. In another match Goa played out a 1-1 draw against Tamil Nadu.
Inter-School cricket
The 16th edition of the Bhubaneswar Inter-School cricket tournament will commence March 29, the Veteran’s Cricket Association of Orissa (VCAO) announced through a press release, Thursday.
