Cuttack, May 11: After thrashing Madhya Pradesh 7-0 in their first match, hosts Orissa are targeting a place in the quarters by winning their last group league encounter against Pondicherry at the Barabati Stadium here Tuesday afternoon.
Pondicherry have played a 1-1 draw with Madhya Pradesh in their first match. So, even a draw would suffice for Orissa to advance to the round of eight. Orissa are a pretty strong side with Bannya Kabiraj, Santi Murmu, Subhadra Nayak and Iva Panna in good form. So there should not be much problem for the hosts to defeat Pondicherry easily.
Coach Gitanjali Khunti expressed her confidence about her players. “Though we thrashed MP by a big margin, yet we committed many mistakes. We will aim to rectify those and win by a big margin against Pondicherry,” she stated Monday.
