Over 2 lakh government posts lying vacant in Odisha till 2021

Bhubaneswar: A total of 2,26,559 government posts are lying vacant in Odisha as per calculations till December 2021, state Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari told the Assembly Monday. Pujari gave the information while replying to a question by BJP lawmaker Kusum Tete. Pujari quoting the Annual Establishment Review Report which is prepared every year, said currently 3,98,577 employees are working in different departments of the Odisha government. This apart, 72 contractual workers and 85 employees, who have got extensions despite reaching superannuation, are working in the Finance Department.

Pujari said the highest number of posts, 55,830 to be precise, are lying vacant in the School and Mass Education department followed by 36,045 in the Health and Family Welfare department, 26,798 in the Home Department and 11,522 in the Higher Education department.
