Bhubaneswar: Eminent Pala artiste Narottam Mahapatra, 90, breathed his last at his ancestral house at Kantabada near Khurda Friday.
Mahapatra was suffering from age related ailments for last several days. He had performed Pala for more than 60 years.
Mahapatra was conferred with Gayak Ratna title by Khallikote king Ramachandra Dev. Besides titles like Baniratna, Gayak Samrat and Gayak Gyanasagar were also bestowed on him by various organisations. Mahapatra had performed Pala shows across Odisha and several places in Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
