Pari murder case SIT receives jolt as court denies permission to conduct LVA test on accused

Nayagarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the sensational Pari murder case Friday withdrew its application requesting for the Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) test on the juvenile accused.

The move came after a local court in Nayagarh district denied the SIT to conduct a Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) test on the juvenile accused.

Notably, the SIT filed a chargesheet in Pari murder case February 15. Prior to it, the SIT had applied for the LVA test.

Judge Itishree Mohapatra of Children’s Court, Nayagarh, did not allow the SIT to conduct a scientific test on the minor boy.

The rule says that neither police nor any investigating agencies are allowed to take the accused on remand again after submission of the chargesheet to the court.

The SIT headed by senior IPS officer Arun Bothra had applied for the LVA test but it did not mention about the test in its chargesheet.

As the SIT did not follow the procedure, it was not allowed to carry out the scientific test to collect more evidence against the accused.

Notably, the SIT was also not allowed to conduct narco analysis and brain mapping tests on the accused.

Notably, Pari was a five-year-old girl who went missing from her house at Jadupur under Sadar police limits in Nayagarh district June 14. Her body was recovered from a spot only 50 metres away from the place where she went missing June 23.

The SIT cracked the case in December last year by arresting the accused. After it was proved that he is a juvenile, the case was transferred to the Juvenile Justice Board. Subsequently, the Juvenile Justice Board transferred the case to the Nayagarh Children’s Court since the juvenile accused belongs to the age group of 16-18 years.
