Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: “During this budget session we will bring a number of important bills for the benefit and development of people of the state,” said Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, after a BJD legislature party meeting held Thursday to chalk out plans for the session that will start Friday.
“Issues related to central negligence will also be raised during the session,” he said.
The Congress, at its legislature party meeting, decided to play the role of a constructive opposition party. “All issues concerning the welfare and development of people of the state will be raised and if the government brings such bills our party will support them,” said Leader of opposition in Assembly Narasingha Mishra of the Congress.
The Congress and the Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) has made it clear that the chit fund, mining scam, land scam, distress sale of paddy and the proposed Vidhan Parishad will be the issues through which they will try to corner the ruling party.
The other issues that will be raised to target the state government include the jaundice outbreak, the swine flu deaths and Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the Itishree murder case.
“The chit fund issue, land scam and mining scam will be raised inside the House for a discussion along with other issues related to women empowerment,” said the leader of BJP legislature party, Basant Kumar Panda.
The Chief Minister said his government is ready to discuss any issue raised by the opposition on the floor of the house.
“The ruling party is ready to discuss all issues raised by the opposition parties. The speaker has to take a final call on such issues for discussion,” said BJD spokesperson Samir Das.
