Koraput: The dialysis centre in-charge of Sahid Laxman Naik Medical College and Hospital Madhusudan Das has resigned from his post Tuesday.
Consequently, the dialysis service at the centre has been severely affected after the doctor’s resignation following which the patients will now have to visit private clinics for dialysis of kidney-related ailments. The inauguration of the centre at the hospital had raised high hopes among the patients.
Notably, the seven-bed dialysis centre, built on PPP mode, was inaugurated by Koraput MP Jhina Hikaka September 27, 2018.
Invariably, the beds in the centre remained occupied by in-house patients; whereas, many outpatients forced Dr Das to conduct dialysis. ‘‘In case of delay on the part of the patients to reach for dialysis, the beds are usually kept vacant to accommodate the in-house patients,’’ Dr Das explained. At times, without understanding the gravity of the situation, outpatients often argued with him and demanded allocation of the vacant beds,’’ he added.
The doctor is reported to have served many patients during his service period, as much as after retirement. Such affairs in the dialysis centre have become regular episodes, which have troubled the doctor. He has to resign in view of such hostile work atmosphere, he pointed out.
