Bhawanipatna: A critically-ill patient Saturday died in an ambulance after the cylinder attached to the ventilator support system ran out of oxygen while being shifted to Bhawanipatna hospital in Kalahandi district.
The deceased was identified as Gagan Baga of Jaipatna.
According to reports, Gagan, who had brain tumour, was admitted to Jaipatna hospital Saturday morning.
Later, the doctors referred him to Bhawanipatna hospital following which a 108-ambulance was arranged.
However, the cylinder ran out of oxygen after the ambulance covered just six kilometres from Jaipatna following which the patient died of suffocation.
The hospital authorities have started an investigation.
