Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted on Hotel Mayfair-Jaydev Vihar road in Bhubaneswar as locals and family members of a woman who died at the ESI Hospital staged road blockade alleging medical negligence.
The deceased was identified as Ahalya (50) of Salia Sahi slum.
According to reports, Ahalya was admitted to the hospital Wednesday morning after she suffered from cough and cold. However, she breathed her last while undergoing treatment last night.
Family members of the deceased alleged that doctors did not treat her properly.
Demanding strict action against the hospital staff, they placed Ahalya’s body on the road and staged dharna in front of the hospital gate.
On receipt of information, police reached the spot and were trying to pacify the irked mob.
Meanwhile, the agitators demanded compensation for the bereaved family.
