Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to release the pension arrears of retired teachers and employees of all aided schools and colleges soon.
Finance Minister Shashibhusan Behera Thursday approved a proposal to release the pension arrears for the period January 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.
The government would release the pension arrears of retired teachers as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The government has already implemented the 7th pay commission recommendations for employees and pensioners.
The government had decided in March to clear the arrears of government employees pending from January 1, 2016 on account of the retrospective implementation of 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations. It had decided to clear 100 per cent arrears of pensioners, while employees received 40 per cent of their arrears.
Moreover, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik March 1 had ordered a revision of the salary of employees of state PSUs as per recommendations of the pay panel. He had also announced a hike in the remuneration of contractual employees by about 25 per cent.
