Keonjhar: A youth allegedly killed his aunt on suspicion of practicing sorcery at Kantala village in Keonjhar district late Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Jingi Purta and police have arrested the accused Ankur Buirua.
According to locals, Ankur accosted Jingi on the road when she was out some work. After a brief argument, Ankur allegedly hit Jingi on her head with a sharp weapon killing her on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. They seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. They also said that during interrogation Ankur has confessed to his crime.
Notably, an elderly couple Ramai Munda and Champa Munda was stabbed to death by miscreants on the suspicion of practicing sorcery at Gudhirampara village in Keonjhar district September 8.
The miscreants allegedly hacked the elderly couple to death when they were asleep on the balcony of their thatched house. The incident had sent shock waves in the locality.
