Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday virtually inaugurated seven railway stations in Odisha redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme as part of the launch of 75 modernised stations across the country.

The seven stations are Barpali, Balangir, Paralakhemundi, Talcher, Kesinga, Bimalgarh and Baripada. They fall under the jurisdiction of the East Coast Railway (ECoR).

ECoR in a post on X said, “Inspired by Odisha’s rich heritage and equipped with modern passenger amenities, these stations reflect Indian Railways’ commitment to creating accessible, comfortable and future-ready travel experiences. Transforming stations. Connecting communities. Building a Viksit Bharat.”

“Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji today dedicated seven redeveloped Amrit Stations across Odisha, Talcher, Balangir, Barpali, Kesinga, Parlakhemundi, Bimalagarh and Baripada, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This stands as a defining milestone in the transformation of our state’s railway infrastructure,” Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi wrote on X.

Built with modern passenger amenities, Divyangjan-friendly design, seamless accessibility and world-class public spaces, these stations will redefine the travel experience for the people of Odisha, he said.

The CM said the new infrastructure will reinforce regional connectivity, catalyse economic activity and drive balanced, inclusive development across the state.

Thanking the PM and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the projects, Majhi said, “Such landmark investments are building stronger, future-ready transport networks and powering Odisha’s resolute march towards Samruddha Odisha, Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.”

During the day, Modi also flagged off India’s first hydrogen-powered train connecting Jind to Sonipat in Haryana.

After flagging off the train from Jind, Modi called it a successful example of the ‘Make In India’ campaign.

Reacting to it, Majhi said the inauguration of the hydrogen-powered train marks a historic leap in the transformation of Indian Railways and reflects the nation’s growing leadership in clean, sustainable and future-ready transportation.

“This pioneering achievement is a testament to India’s unwavering commitment to innovation, green growth and technological self-reliance. As Indian Railways continues to set new global benchmarks in sustainable mobility, the hydrogen-powered train represents a defining step towards reducing carbon emissions, strengthening energy security and shaping a cleaner, more resilient future for generations to come,” he added.
