Tila Gond, a resident of Urisidingri village, had been to Tarakanadi village for some work when he was attacked. Some locals spotted him in a pool of blood and alerted the police.

The police reached the spot and rushed Tila to Jharigaon community health centre. Later, he was shifted to Koraput district headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated.

The police have registered a case and launched a probe to nab the attackers.

Similarly, a youth identified as Pradeep Dixit (27) of Jalanga village under Bhadrak rural police limits was rendered critical after being attacked by particular party supporters.

Rural police registered a case based on a complaint by the victim and launched a probe while no one had been arrested then.

According to sources, a water kiosk had been opened at Jalanga square under the leadership of Dixit. Supporters of the BJD were taking out a massive rally in the area.

Some youths participating in the rally allegedly misbehaved near the kiosk. Dixit approached them and asked them not to misbehave near the kiosk. He requested them to leave the place.

This left the supporters infuriated and they attacked Dixit.

Similarly, at Gelpur village, a family was attacked by supporters of a particular party after they allegedly denied pasting the poster of another party in their house courtyard. The family of injured Nirakar Jena approached the cops and lodged a complaint but the cops had not registered a case.

According to sources, four supporters of a group were pasting the party posters in the village. They had been to Jena’s house to paste the poster. However, the family denied to paste the poster and asked them to leave.

This left them insulted and they attacked Jena and his family. The condition of Jena’s elderly mother and brother was stated to be critical and they had to be rushed to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital (DHH), reports said.

In another incident, a BJD worker was stabbed with a broken glass over an issue at a polling booth in Dhenkanal district.

According to sources, BJD worker Santosh Kumar Sahu of Ambapalas Ramchandrapur Sahi and BJP supporter Debanand Sahu had a fight over some issue while standing in a queue to exercise their franchise.

Infuriated, Debanand took a beverage bottle and stabbed Santosh, leaving him unconscious in the spot due to excess bleeding. Family members rescued him and rushed to Parajang community health centre (CHC). After preliminary treatment, he was shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).
