Berhampur: Four unidentified bike-borne miscreants impersonating police officers Sunday morning looted gold ornaments worth thousands of rupees from a woman at Gosaninuagaon area here in Ganjam district.
The victim was identified as Sanjukta Padhi. Based on her complaint, police registered a case and started an investigation.
According to the complainant, four miscreants on two bikes intercepted Sanjukta, who was out for a morning walk early Sunday morning.
The miscreants said they were police officials and advised Sanjukta to take off all the gold ornaments she was wearing to avoid the attention of the looters.
Convinced, Sanjukta removed all her ornaments. However, the four suddenly snatched the ornaments from her hand and fled from the spot. The weight of the jewellery would be around 15 gm, said the victim.
