Bahanaga: A woman ward member lost her post after the ADM’s court found her having three children at Jagannathpur panchayat under Bahanaga block in Balasore Wednesday.
Under the Odisha Panchyatiraj Act, candidates having more than two children are ineligible to contest elections. Sagarika Bindhani was elected as ward member from ward-10. However, a resident of the same ward had challenged her election at the ADM’s court in 2017.
Taking the petition into consideration, Collector Ramesh Rout declared her ward membership invalid for flouting the two child norm.
