Mayurbhanj: The principal and an accountant of a degree college in Puruna Cuttack area under Gopabandhu block in Mayurbhanj district have been caught on CCTV camera assaulting a student physically.
The student has been identified as Debashis Mahanta.
The matter came to light after the video of the incident recorded in the CCTV installed in the principal’s office went viral.
According to Debashis, the incident took place Friday when he went to principal office in order to seek the college leaving certificate (CLC). The principal had previously asked for Rs 5,000 for providing the CLC. However, the accused principal Friday asked for an additional Rs 7,500 for providing the same.
When the proposal was opposed by Debasish, the principal along with the accountant of the college has a verbal argument with him that turned violent. Later, the accused duo shut the door of the office and banged the student’s mobile phone onto the ground. This led to a scuffle.
The footage of the entire scenario has been captured in CCTV camera and has gone viral on social media.
That said, the principal has refuted the allegation stating that the student triggered the trouble and the mobile phone slipped from his hand with trying to pacify Debashis.
