Angul: Pulses, milk products and chili powder were found to be adulterated after an inspection of samples collected from 22 locations in Angul Friday.
Some more food products have been sent for laboratory tests, officers said.
It was alleged that food adulteration was rampant in Angul town. Bowing to the demands for an inspection, food samples collected from various hotels and grocery shops were sent to Mobile Food Testing Laboratory.
Giving priority, pulses, milk products, oil and spices were tested and they have been found to be adulterated.
“We are going to conduct similar raids in areas like Talcher, Athmallik and Pallahara,” said District Public Health Officer Rakesh Kumar Sahu.
Following directions of the state government and Chief District Medical Officer, a team comprising sanitation invigilator Subash Chandra Behera, food safety officer Rashmita Behera, state assistant analytical chemist Patitapaban Mohapatra and Pramod Nayak conducted the raids.
State assistant analytical chemist Patitapaban Mohapatra has forwarded the test report of pulses, milk, milk products and red chili powder to State Food Safety Officer and Angul Public Health Officer.
“We are in a fix choosing what to buy, what not to buy, what to eat and what not to eat,” said some consumers.
