Gop: A tourist from Rajasthan fell off a bus roof and died after being hit by a branch near Dasabatia on Gop-Konark road in Puri district Friday.
The deceased has been identified as 45 years old Bhajanlal Soni.
According to a source, 80 tourists from Rajasthan were on a visit to Puri and Konark. They were travelling in a bus. Friday, they were moving towards Konark while some of them were seated atop the vehicle. Bhajanlal was one among them.
While passing through Dasabatia, the vehicle went under a tree and a low-lying branch hit Bhajanlal throwing him off the roof.
On being informed, fire personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured tourist. He was then rushed to Gop government hospital where the doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.
Gop police later recovered the body for postmortem and are investigating into the incident further.
