Bhubaneswar: Rajesh Nayak moved into the joint second spot with West Bengal’s IM Sayantan Das 4.5 points after the completion of the fifth round of the IInd All India FIDE Rating Open Chess Championships in Balasore, Sunday.
Rajesh outplayed Susovit Das in the fifth game of the nine-round tourney. However, it was an unfortunate day for another state player Rakesh Kumar Nayak who lost his joint top position after suffering a loss to Arindam Mukherjee (five points) of West Bengal, who is sharing the top position with his statemate Nilesh Saha.
Fifteen players including nine state players, are in joint third position with four points each in their kitty.

A 20-member Orissa hockey team left from Rourkela Sunday for the VIIth Hockey India Sub-Junior Men’s National Championship, to be played in Bangalore, May 10-21. Hockey Orissa are placed in Pool-A and will play their first match against Andhra Pradesh, May 10.
