Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has announced free travel for all women passengers on Ama Bus services across the state August 27, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The free travel facility will be available on all Ama Bus services operating in Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Puri, Raurkela, Sambalpur, Brahmapur and Kendujhar.
CRUT expects the initiative to benefit more than one lakh wom en passengers in a single day.
The initiative aims to promote safe, convenient and af fordable mobility for women and is aligned with the state government’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
CRUT said the move will complement ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s social and economic empowerment, including through the Subhadra scheme.
However, women passengers availing themselves of the free journey will still be required to obtain a Zero Ticket during the trip.
CRUT has urged passengers to cooperate with bus staff and follow passenger etiquette to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for everyone.
