Ravenshaw Jr College to shift to Jobra

The HC registrar recommended the government to shift the college to Jobra where the government had acquired 3.30 acre land for the purpose and remove existing encroachments within three months.

Cuttack, Jan 8: In deference to a High Court order, the state government submitted its report in connection with the shifting of Ravenshaw Junior College.
On behalf of the government, public prosecutor Pravat Kumar Muduli deposed before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Amitava Roy and Justice Akhay Kumar Pati. Muduli informed the bench that the panel, formed by the state government December 16 to take a final call in this regard, has decided to shift the college to Jobra and remove existing encroachments within three months.
The bench ordered the government to take possession of college land encroached at Malgodown.According to sources, the state government had acquired a 1.76 acre plot near Malgodown to shift the college. The HC registrar, however, recommended the government to shift the college to Jobra where the government had acquired 3.30 acre land for the purpose. The registrar’s proposal came after a few students opposed the government move to shift the college to Malgodown.
The HC had ordered the registrar (judicial) to visit the area in Malgodown where the government had proposed to come up with the college and submit a report. A committee consisting of public prosecutor BP Pradhan, registrar and education department joint secretary submitted a report after visiting the area.
