New Delhi: The state tourism department Tuesday held a road show portraying the potential of the indigenous tourism sector in Orissa to attract investments and tour operators into the state.
State tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda and department director Nitin Jawale participated in the event where they met with an array of different stakeholders related to tourism and hospitality sectors to discuss with them, ways to explore investment potentials in the state.
Panda urged private players to invest in the state while the department welcomed the sector related industries and other players for the upcoming Orissa Travel Bazaar to be held in Bhubaneswar in October.
Panda said, “Orissa has been emerging as one of the priority destinations for travel enthusiasts for authentic experience with its unique natural and cultural heritage. The proposed Travel Bazaar will give the investors an opportunity to explore various sectors of tourism business.”
Talking to Orissa POST, Tourism director Nitin Jawale said, “We came here for a road show to promote our tourism potential. We met different stakeholders of the tourism sector. We believe Orissa has huge investment potential.”
He further said, “We have discussed with them tax incentives and other assistance that the state is offering to prospective investors under the new state Tourism Policy.”
The state tourism department, meanwhile, gave a detailed presentation before tour operators and investors about the benefits in tourism sector. It discussed the tax incentives, direct flight connectivity from Indian cities and countries abroad, single window clearance system among others.
